For two decades, we have been dreaming and working toward a world that understands all bodyminds as essential with unique strengths and needs that must be met. In this journey, the Sins Invalid’s School of Popular Education has been an important platform to share our truths with the world and to introduce many to the expansive and growing practice of Disability Justice.

To celebrate our 20th anniversary we are transforming the Sins School of Popular Education into the Disability Justice Hothouse. A new summer series that is both a launching pad for people starting their DJ journey and a space of connection, dreaming and exchange for disabled people.

The Disability Justice Hothouse is a seedbed. A space of gathering to cultivate into practice our ideas for the future. A collective altar to honor the Crip Brilliance of our ancestors and a space to hold the grief of a journey marked by profound losses. Whether you are a disabled comrade looking to access resources or a practitioner craving spaces to build alternative presents and futures, we invite you to join us!

This year we are making our Disability Justice Hothouse free of cost!

2026 Workshops Lineup

Wednesdays, 1p – 3p PST / 4p – 6p EST

August 12: Disability Justice: The History of an Interwoven Fight

We will dive into the history of how disabled, queer/gender non-conforming visionaries of color launched and continue to sustain the Disability Justice Movement. We will trace the history of eugenics to demonstrate how intertwined the fights against racism, capitalism, and colonialism are to the fight for disability justice.

August 19: The 10 Principles of Disability Justice as Guide for Our Survival

In this workshop, we will introduce the 10 Principles of Disability Justice in Spanish and explore the importance of these principles for the Disability Justice movement.

August 26: Building Crip Resilience

In an era of climate collapse and systemic violence, we must rely on each other to survive and get free. In this session, the Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies (PIDS) focuses on the vital resources and information we need to prepare for disasters and continue to survive.

September 2: Embracing What’s Coming: Art that says I Belong, We Belong!

We will use illustration, collage, paint, ASL expression, or mixed media, to weave personal explorations and collective revelations into visual reminders that we are part of a legacy of resilience, resistance, and interdependence.

Every workshop is capped at 100 folks. All workshops will be available in ASL, English and Spanish with CART.
