Episode 3: Planetary Whistle Blowers
Into the Crip Universe: Cripping the Anthropocene by Sins Invalid
Season 1, Episode 3: Planetary Whistle Blowers
Guest: Mordecai Cohen Ettinger
Host: Rafi Ruffino Darrow
Description:
Our guest Mordecai discusses how people who have been harmed or disabled by environmental injury/illness are “planetary whistle blowers” for our state of climate chaos. The podcast explores the entangled institutions which comprise the Medical Industrial Complex (MIC), and how agribusinesses and big pharma often profit from environmental harms and illnesses they cause. Mordecai, founder of Health Justice Commons, shares their perspective on building movements to create alternative systems of healing that resist and transform the capitalist, racist, ableist, and eugenics-based practices embedded in the MIC.

Show Notes
In our Crip universe, there exist different speech, communication, and breathing patterns. To honor these differences, we have made the conscious decision to not edit out any pauses or lapses in conversation that may traditionally be edited out in other media. You might hear ventilators, assistive devices, and/or mobility devices in the background, and at times have to turn your volume up to hear the brilliant wisdom of our disabled host or guests.
